About Craig
I’m a wireless communications engineer and educator based in Lincolnshire, England, with 30 years of experience spanning aerospace engineering, LEO and GEO satellite systems, RF communications, and technical training.
My career has crossed a wider range of environments than most: from ILS engineering on NATO geostationary satellite programmes at Airbus Defence and Space, to running a two-way radio and wireless communications business, to speaking at TEDx on how low Earth orbit satellites can close the global education gap. I hold a Level 7 PGCE with QTS and work concurrently as a DSA Specialist Mentor supporting neurodiverse university students across England.
What connects all of it is a single interest: the point where engineering, communications technology and human learning intersect — and what becomes possible when that intersection is designed well.
273 million children worldwide have no access to school. My 2023 TEDx talk explored how low Earth orbit direct-to-device satellite connectivity, combined with AI-powered personalised learning and repurposed smartphones, could deliver secondary-education-standard learning to unreached children — without building a single new school or laying a single new fibre cable.
The talk draws on my engineering background in satellite systems, my work as an educator and DSA mentor, and the research underpinning the ReachED Foundation.

Writing on this site
I write about LEO and GEO satellite connectivity, direct-to-device technology, RF and wireless communications, and neurodivergent learning in higher education. My aim is to make technically complex subjects clear to non-specialists, while remaining accurate enough to be useful to engineers and policy professionals.
My writing draws directly on practitioner experience — not aggregated or AI-generated content. Where I reference regulatory frameworks, I cite primary sources including Ofcom decisions, GSMA policy documents and ESA technical reports.
